Who Needs a E-bike License in Pakistan?

If your e-bike is motorized (not a pedal-assist only) or falls into the "motor-driven" category, you must hold at least a motorcycle learner's permit or a valid driving license.

A driving license is a basic requirement for subsidy eligibility and legal registration. Many government e-bike schemes explicitly ask for a valid learner's permit/driving license when applying.

How to Get a Driver's License in Pakistan?

No license? No ride. To get one, you must be a Pakistani citizen, at least 18 years old, with a CNIC in hand.

In Punjab, you can apply through the DLIMS portal, while in other provinces, you'll have to visit the local excise office.

Some documents that you might need are:

• Original CNIC

• A copy of CNIC 

• A recent photo

All you have to do is fill in the form, pay the fee, and pass any required test. 

Once your application is approved and the process is completed, you'll receive your driving license and be able to leave with it in hand.

How to Register Your E-bike in Pakistan?

You can register your e-bike in person or online, depending on your province.

Option 1: Register at the Excise and Taxation Office

• Gather all necessary documents.

• Visit your nearest Excise & Taxation Office.

• Request and fill out the registration form.

• Attach all required documents.

• Pay the registration fee and keep the receipt safe.

• Return after 3–7 days to collect your registration card (RC) and number plate.

Option 2: Register Your E-Bike Online

• Scan all your required documents, including CNIC, its copy, Fresh pictures, proof of purchase, residence proof, and e-bike details.

• Visit your provincial excise online portal.

• Make a new account using your CNIC and mobile number.

• Verify it using the OTP sent to your phone.

• Fill in the required details and upload the scanned documents.

• Pay your registration fee. You can do so via JazzCash, Easypaisa, card, or bank transfer.

• Submit and you'll get a tracking number.

• Your application will be processed within 3-7 days.

• Once approved, you can download your digital registration certificate from the portal. Number plates are either delivered to your address or you need to collect them from the excise office, depending on your location.

It doesn't matter if you go down to the office or apply through the portal... the steps are pretty much the same. 

First, get your documents ready. Then, fill out the form and pay the fee. After that, wait for approval... and finally, collect your RC along with the plates.

The only catch is that costs and processing times change from province to province, so always check your own excise website.
